Will Barry Davies ever learn when enough is enough?
Top ligger and former BBC commentator BARRY DAVIES was at it again last night, after one Jägerbomb too many on an impromptu night out at with pal TONY GUBBA.
According to our source, Tony was sitting at home with his wife watching re-reruns of Football’s Hardest Away Days on his digital freeview player when Barry rang him out of the blue and “worse for wear”.
BD had spent the day at a USA ‘94 BBC World Cup team reunion at London’s swanky Griffin Park, sampling its deadly Rosenoir ale with old mucker STEVE RIDER.
The source said: “Tony was reluctant at first because he was feeling stuffed after eating one of his wife’s notoriously buttery chicken Kievs for dinner, but David promised him they’d stick to the lager tops and be home in time for the Football League Show.”
Surprise surprise, three cab journeys, umpteen Jägerbombs and one traffic cone later, the dastardly duo had missed Manish and co and were stumbling home singing the BBC’s Italia ’90 title music.
My advice to Tony? Don’t pick up after six if it’s Barry on the other end of line!
