Chatroom member finally fulfils potential with coherent posting

Shrimper88 considers his next post

THE BBC website has praised 606 messageboard member Uxbridge_Shrimper88 for finally fulfilling his potential, after his chat-of-the-match performance in last week's Chelsea vs Liverpool Champions League semi-final thread.

During discussion of Frank Lampard's decisive penalty, Shrimper88 proffered the evening's most cogent match analysis, a brief prediction for the final, and found space to offer his sympathy to Lampard after the death of his mother, with a superb posting reprinted below:

"GOOD RESULT 4 CHELSKI LAST NITE, WERE DA BETTA TEAM. WELL SORRY FOR LAMPS. WAS BOTTLE FOR DA PEN, RECKON THEY COULD WIN DA FINAL … PLAY KALOU."

It has been a steep learning curve for the anonymous Southend fan on the 606 boards after his acrimonious departure and banning from the TeamTalk online forums, where he would regularly single out teams such as "West Spam", "Chavski" and Malmo FF for fierce abuse.

After last week's mature post however, the online community could be about to witness Shrimper's natural typing talent at last. "He’s served his apprenticeship," said Caroline Cheese from the BBC's website's tongue-in-cheek live match updates.

"What he said about the about the Malouda/Kalou dilemma in the Champions League Final showed genuine insight. He's done a lot of growing up in the last few weeks and he's beginning to live up to the rave reviews of his performances on under-18s messageboards."

Despite Shrimper's huge potential, the e-menace gained a reputation for "nonsense posts" and a trigger-happy use of internet shorthand and the caps lock key in his early days as a professional messageboard contributor.

Near-the-knuckle thread-replies such as "CHAVSKI RENT BOYS GONNA GET BUMMED IN CL SEMIS LMAO IMO FAT FRANK YYYYYYAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!" and "KEVIN LISBIE JKS YOU ARE A JOKE IMO LOLZ AND ROFLS @ U WAIT TILL U GO DOWN AND GET BBQD BY DA SHRIMPAS" were typically naive displays which alerted BBC site admins.

Shrimper88 will now try to take his recent form into the Champions League final, where he will be tightly monitored. "He’ll more than likely be man-marked by two Bots for the game in accordance to the house rules," said Cheese. "But if he gets his head down and focuses on his job, he could light up the biggest stage of all."
