Carlos Tevez hits new low as Mancini forces him to train with Alan Ball’s 95/96 Manchester City squad

MANCHESTER CITY manager Roberto Mancini has refused to welcome Carlos Tevez back to his first team and instead banished the striker to train at the club’s bottom level, their relegated 1995/96 squad.

Mancini had considered relegating Tevez to the reserves or the youth team but then felt that wasn’t punishment enough for his behavior and instead set about reuniting the team that would cause him the ultimate humiliation.

“I think Carlos will learn a lot about respect down there, you don’t train with the likes of Richard Edghill and come back feeling like a star,” said Mancini. “This should teach him know what it is like to be part of a squad.

“I’m not doubting that he will come back with an attitude equal to Gerry Creaney or Michel Vonk.”

Mancini has admitted that it has been a “logistical nightmare” to reunite the crack squad for training, which has had to be held early in the morning as half of the group have to get back to act as londlords at their pubs during the afternoon rush for Ploughman’s lunches.

Meanwhile, he has said it has been impossible to contact central defender Michael Frontzeck as no one ever really knew who he was at the time.

“It has been a struggle but to get them all back on the training pitch has been a real joy,” said Mancini. “The old chemistry is back, Steve Lomas hasn’t lost any of his electric pace and most of the letters are still on the back of Mikhail Kavelashvili’s shirt.”

“If anything Carlos is struggling to fit in. In his first session all his passes reached their target and he scored three goals, they will soon stamp that out.”

Tevez has a lot of work to do at Manchester City to win back the respect of the team and fans and was devastated when he received the ultimate kick in the teeth this week as famous City fan Bonehead gave him the cold shoulder in a city centre branch of Pizza Express.

Mancini added that giving Tevez a new squad number of π on his return was not an attempt to humiliate him further.
