Championship Manager put on gardening leave after his girlfriend hides the disc

CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER manager Chris Miller has outlined plans to seek work in punditry during his enforced break from the popular late-Nineties videogame. Miller has been forbidden from taking any more fictional computerised managerial work after his angry girlfriend Natasha hid his CD-Rom.

Miller had become increasingly involved with the copy of Championship Manager 97/98 bought for him by his brother Steve off eBay as an amusing birthday present. In two short ‘real-time’ weeks Miller guided Brighton and Hove Albion to three successive European Cups, attracted Tommy Svindal Larsson, Erik Nevland and Ibrahima Bakayoko to the Goldstone Ground and attained the reputation of ‘World Class’ in the process.

However, things turned sour for the make-believe managerial genius when he overslept instead of picking his girlfriend up from Pilates class a week ago, after a heavy all-night session with the game that involved a particularly exciting Coca Cola cup run. Things reached crisis point three days ago when he smashed Natasha’s favourite Friends mug in a fit of pique after Niclas Alexandersson missed a last minute penalty in a cup final replay against Lincoln.

While Miller collected his thoughts and made an angry cup of tea as he waited for the new season to load, Natasha hid the CD-Rom and has since refused to reveal where it is. Responding to allegations from his girlfriend that he had become “obsessed” with the game after donning a full suit for his first FA Cup Final, and staging a series of imaginary interviews with Garth Crooks late at night in his garden shed, Miller said: “Obviously I’m absolutely gutted, but you’ve got to take decisions like these on the chin.

“Natasha’s done what she thinks is best for the club, and I obviously wish Brighton well for the future. I’ll never forget the time I’ve spent here.” Miller’s next move looks sure to be in a punditry role, a job his prestige and outspoken style has led him to in the past. Just last week Miller was spotted offering advice to a bemused work colleague about bargain AM/F Centre/Rights and how to get the best out of Chris Kiwomya.
