FORMER ENGLAND manager Fabio Capello has admitted he was relieved to finally be allowed to leave his role after a series of attempts to force the FA to dismiss him over the last few years.
Capello said he had been trying to get out of the role of England manager from his first week in the job when he found out that his office was at Wembley and not in trendy Soho Square as he had hoped.
“Sven had told me that it was a great little job in walking distance of three Pret a Mangers and an Eat, I was happy to say yes,” Capello told one of Italy’s many pink newspapers. “Then it turns out I’m having to travel to bloody Zone 3 on the Metropolitan line day in day out.
“And my office is in the middle of nowhere, I had to go up and down Wembley Way every time I wanted a latte or Milanese biscotti. I can’t be expected to live like that.”
Capello saw it as his only option to try and get sacked as soon as possible, but it proved more difficult than he hoped. Initial plans to put cling film on Alex Horne’s toilet seat backfired when the lads at the FA commended it as excellent banter, a problem that recurred when he was rewarded with a pay rise for drawing a cock and balls on Stuart Pearce’s training top and shitting in Trevor Brooking’s satchel.
“I then realised I needed to take things up a notch if I was going to get out of here and decided to manage the team to a 0-0 draw with Algeria at the World Cup, but still they wouldn’t get rid of me. In the end I had to go for the nuclear option and pretended I liked John Terry. To be honest I can’t believe they fell for it.”
The FA have refused to comment on rumours Capello received a pay off after leaving but have said they will be deducting the cost a new satchel from any money he does receive.
